³⁰ “After 40 years had passed, an angel appeared to him in the flames of a burning bush in the desert near Mount Sinai. ³¹ When Moses saw it, he was amazed at the sight, and when he approached the bush^[a] to look at it, the voice of the Lord said,^{[b] 32} ‘I am the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’^[c] Moses became terrified and didn’t dare to look.
